Our Shelby County facility is recognized among the region's most impactful construction projects
Alliance Healthcare Services is honored to announce that our Crisis Wellness Center has been selected as a finalist for the 2026 Memphis Business Journal Building Memphis Awards. This recognition celebrates the most innovative, elegant, and thoughtfully designed construction projects across the Mid-South—and we're proud that our facility stands among them.
Building Memphis is MBJ's annual program honoring exceptional construction projects that opened in 2025. An editorial panel carefully reviewed public nominations to select finalists in categories ranging from new construction to renovations, grouped by project scope and cost.
The Crisis Wellness Center joins an impressive group of projects that have shaped our community's landscape.

A Lot More Than Bricks and Mortar
The Crisis Wellness Center represents far more than an architectural achievement. It embodies a fundamental shift in how Shelby County responds to behavioral health crises.
We are prioritizing healing over incarceration, dignity over stigma, and hope over despair.
Since opening in January 2025, the Crisis Wellness Center has become a vital resource for our community, providing immediate, compassionate care for individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crises.
Every design element was intentional, created to support our mission of delivering world-class behavioral health services with dignity and respect.

What Makes the Crisis Wellness Center Unique
Our facility was designed with one guiding principle: that environment matters in healing. When someone is experiencing a crisis, the space they enter can either escalate their distress or begin the process of stabilization.
Our Crisis Wellness Center was built to do the latter.
Thoughtful Design Elements:
The center features calming, non-institutional spaces that reduce anxiety and promote feelings of safety. Natural lighting, comfortable furnishings, and quiet areas for reflection create an atmosphere of care rather than clinical detachment. Private assessment rooms ensure confidentiality and dignity during vulnerable moments.
Comprehensive Crisis Services:
Open 24/7, the Crisis Wellness Center provides immediate walk-in access to crisis assessment, stabilization, and short-term residential services. No appointment necessary. No judgment. Just compassionate care when it's needed most.
Community Impact:
Through our partnership with law enforcement and first responders, the Crisis Wellness Center serves as an alternative to jail for individuals experiencing behavioral health emergencies.

A Collaborative Achievement
This recognition reflects the exceptional collaboration between Alliance Healthcare Services, Turner Construction Mid-South, and BRG3S Architects. Together, our teams transformed vision into reality.
Turner Construction Mid-South brought construction expertise and a commitment to quality that ensured the facility met the highest standards.
BRG3S Architects translated our vision for trauma-informed, healing-centered design into architectural plans that balance functionality with humanity. The result is a facility that not only serves its purpose but does so with grace and thoughtfulness.

What's Next
The Building Memphis awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, March 31, from 5:30–8 p.m. at the Memphis Botanic Garden. All finalists will be profiled, and winners will be announced across multiple categories, including Project of the Year, Community Impact Award, and People's Choice Award.
Whether the Crisis Wellness Center brings home an award or not, this recognition affirms what we've known since opening day: this facility represents a significant step forward for behavioral health care in Shelby County.
It demonstrates that with thoughtful design, dedicated partnerships, and a commitment to dignity, we can create spaces that truly heal.
