No Insurance? You Still Have Options.

We believe everyone in our community deserves access to mental health and addiction recovery services, regardless of their financial situation. If you are uninsured or underinsured, Alliance offers two pathways to affordable care.
Behavioral Health Safety Net Program
Alliance participates in the TN Behavioral Health Safety Net Program, a state-supported initiative that helps cover the cost of behavioral health services for individuals who would not otherwise be able to afford care.
If you qualify, you may receive services at little or no cost. Our intake team can determine your eligibility at your first visit.
Sliding Fee Scale
If you do not have insurance and do not qualify for the Safety Net Program, you may be eligible for our sliding fee scale. This means the amount you pay is based on your household income and family size, not a flat rate.
No one will be denied access to services due to an inability to pay. This is a core commitment at Alliance Healthcare Services, and it has been since 1973.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Alliance accept TennCare?
Yes. Alliance Healthcare Services accepts TennCare (Tennessee Medicaid) for mental health therapy, psychiatric services, addiction treatment, crisis services, and more. TennCare covers a wide range of behavioral health services for eligible Tennessee residents.
What if I don't have insurance?
You can still receive care. Alliance offers a sliding fee scale based on your income and household size. We also participate in the Mental Health Safety Net Program for individuals who cannot afford services. No one is denied care due to inability to pay.
How much will my visit cost?
The cost of your visit depends on your insurance plan, the type of service you receive, and your eligibility for financial assistance programs. Our intake team will explain your costs before treatment begins so there are no surprises.
Do I need a referral to be seen?
No referral is needed for most services. You can call (901) 369-1410 to schedule an appointment or walk in to any of our outpatient clinics during business hours for a same-day intake.
Does Alliance accept Medicare?
Yes. Alliance accepts Medicare for eligible behavioral health services, including outpatient therapy, psychiatric evaluation, and medication management.
What is the Mental Health Safety Net Program?
The Mental Health Safety Net Program is a state-funded initiative that helps cover the cost of mental health and substance use disorder treatment for people who are uninsured or cannot afford services. Alliance participates in this program to ensure no one in our community goes without care.
What is a sliding fee scale?
A sliding fee scale adjusts the cost of services based on your household income and family size. If you qualify, you pay a reduced amount — sometimes significantly less than the standard rate. Our team will help determine your eligibility at intake.
Can I get addiction treatment if I don't have insurance?

What documents should I bring to my first appointment?
