Turning Point

At Turning Point you'll find real people who've walked a similar path. We're a peer-led recovery support center staffed by Certified Peer Recovery Specialists, people with lived experience in recovery who understand what you're going through.

Turning Point

Why Turning Point Is Different

Peer-led, not clinical. Our staff are Certified Peer Recovery Specialists trained and certified by the State of Tennessee. They've been there. They know recovery isn't one-size-fits-all.

One of only two in the region. Shelby County recognized the need, and we're answering it. We're part of Tennessee's statewide commitment to peer support as a cornerstone of mental health recovery.

Connected to a full continuum of care. Beyond peer support, if you need therapy, crisis services, addiction treatment, or housing support, Alliance is here. We work together to help you move forward.

Creative, home-like, welcoming. Walk through our doors at 4088 Summer Ave and feel the difference. We're not trying to feel like a hospital or an office, we're trying to feel like a safe place where recovery happens.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Turning Point at Alliance?

Turning Point is Alliance's peer-led recovery support center at 4088 Summer Avenue, Memphis. It is a drop-in space where adults 18 and older work on recovery from mental illness or substance use disorder, learn coping skills, and connect with Certified Peer Recovery Specialists. Turning Point is not a clinical treatment site.

Who runs Turning Point?

Turning Point is staffed by Alliance Certified Peer Recovery Specialists — people with their own lived experience of mental health and substance use recovery. The site lead is Marta Hernandez, Peer Center Supervisor. Turning Point sits within Alliance's Peer and Recovery Services department, separate from the outpatient clinical clinics.

Do I need an appointment to come to Turning Point?

No. Turning Point is built as a drop-in peer recovery space. Come during operating hours, meet a peer specialist, and learn what's happening that day. There is no formal intake or insurance check to join group activities, recovery education, or one-on-one peer conversations. Call (901) 369-1410 for current hours.

What happens at Turning Point day to day?

Turning Point offers peer-led recovery groups, skill-building workshops on coping with triggers and stress, social and creative activities, recovery education, and one-on-one time with a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist. Some Turning Point members also receive Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) through Alliance teams that operate out of Summer Avenue.

Do I have to be an Alliance client to use Turning Point?

Not necessarily for drop-in activities. Turning Point welcomes adults 18 and older working on mental health or substance use recovery. If you want to add clinical services like therapy, psychiatry, or MAT, the Turning Point team will help connect you to an Alliance outpatient clinic. Call (901) 369-1410 to learn more.
