Alliance Hosts First Responders Appreciation Event

On October 28, Alliance Healthcare Services welcomed first responder leaders to our Crisis Wellness Center on Broad Avenue. The event brought together Memphis Police Department, Memphis Fire Department, and Shelby County Sheriff's Office for a special tour and reception.

We chose this date because October 28 is First Responders Day, a national day to honor police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and others who help our community during emergencies.

Group of people pose at a 'Welcome First Responders' event in a modern room, smiling, dressed professionally. Food and drinks on tables.

First responders make important decisions every day about where to take people in crisis. When someone is having a mental health emergency or struggling with substance use, these decisions matter.

We wanted first responder leaders to see what Alliance offers so they understand we're here for everyone, not just people without insurance.

Our Crisis Wellness Center provides assessment, stabilization, and connections to ongoing care. During the tour, we showed first responder leaders our facilities, explained our services, and answered their questions.

Building Better Partnerships

The event created space for real conversations between Alliance staff and the agencies that serve our community first. Police officers, firefighters, and EMTs see people at their worst moments. When they know what Alliance can do, they can better connect people with the right care.

These partnerships are crucial. Alliance serves more than 22,000 Shelby County residents each year. We depend on strong relationships with first responders because they're often the connection between someone's crisis and their recovery.

What We Have in Common

Throughout the evening, one thing became clear: Alliance and our first responder partners share the same mission. We all work under pressure. We all help people during their toughest moments. We all want to serve our community with respect and quality care.

The reception gave everyone time to talk beyond policies and procedures. People shared stories, built relationships, and found common ground. These connections lead to better care for the people we all serve.

Moving Forward Together

To our partners at Memphis Police Department, Memphis Fire Department, and Shelby County Sheriff's Office: thank you for your service and for joining us on October 28. Together, we're making Shelby County safer and healthier.

A special thank you to Specialist Kenneth Hiner for taking these photos from the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.
