Alliance CEO Laurie Powell honored with 2025 Distinguished Service Award

Our CEO Laurie Powell was awarded the 2025 Distinguished Service Award by TN Dept Mental Health Substance Abuse Services at the TAMHO 2025 Statewide Crisis Services and Suicide Prevention Conference. 




Jennifer Armstrong, (Director or Office of Crisis Services and Suicide Prevention TNDMHSAS commended Powell for her significant contributions to mental health awareness and her commitment to providing care to underserved communities in Memphis and Shelby County.


Armstrong highlighted Powell's innovative programs that have addressed critical gaps in care, including crisis intervention initiatives and culturally competent counseling services.

"This year's recipient has been a steadfast advocate for mental health awareness, access, and equity in Memphis and Shelby County. Her unwavering dedication to serving marginalized and underserved populations has profoundly impacted countless individuals and families. 


She has spearheaded innovative programs that bridge critical gaps in care, launching crisis intervention initiatives, expanding culturally competent counseling services, and ensuring that all members of the community have a path to healthcare and support. Her vision extends beyond programs to creating spaces that truly embody whole person care. 


Her dream for a new wellness center years in the making became reality in March of 2025. The Crisis Wellness Center is a beautiful facility designed to promote both physical and mental wellness in a time where behavioral health needs are both urgent and visible. 

Her tireless commitment and visionary leadership stand as a beacon of hope. Her work has transformed lives, strengthened the mental health system, and inspired all of us to strive for a more compassionate, equitable future."
