Older Adult Program
Medicare covers a lot, but it doesn't always cover everything. If you're 50 or older and need additional mental health support beyond what your insurance provides, Alliance Healthcare Services is here to help.

Mental Health Support for Older Adults in Shelby County
As the designated Older Adult Program provider for Shelby County, we offer services designed specifically for older adults and the people who care for them.

About the Older Adult Program
The Older Adult Program is offered through the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (TDMHSAS). It provides extra mental health support to older Tennesseans living with a mental health condition, which may not be available through Medicare or private insurance alone.
Alliance Healthcare Services is the designated provider for Shelby County and the surrounding area. We are a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), a national designation that reflects our commitment to high-quality, accessible care.

What The OAP Program Offers
Services are tailored to each person's individual needs and may include:
Psychoeducation: Learning about your mental health condition; what it is, what warning signs to watch for, and how to manage it day to day. Think of it as personalized education built around your needs and your life.
Referrals and Connections to Care: We connect you to the right support — whether that's therapy, psychiatric services, or community resources. You don't have to figure out the system on your own.
Supportive Services: Ongoing guidance for both you and your caregivers as you navigate mental health care together.

Is This Program Right for You?
You may be eligible for the Older Adult Program if you:

Please note: This program is not part of TennCare (Medicaid) or the Behavioral Health Safety Net. It is a supplemental program for older adults who need mental health support beyond what their current insurance covers.
